This weekend I took advantage of the unseasonably lovely weather to take my camera out and play with my new 50mm lens. 50mm is not so much used for such situations however I was very happy with the results I got from it. After about 60 shots or so I needed to chuck out 4 for being blurred from my shaky hands, by comparison about 40 would be blurred using my kit lens which lacks a stabiliser function. I also got to see the nice bokeh effects that fast lenses provide in abundance, with an example posted here that I’ve called “Carolynne Loves History” named from a comment I made after taking the shot. However all this serves only to increase my desire to spend a national debt on camera kit but I’m not ashamed, it’s just my crack. It was a nice walk even though we didn’t go too far and in spite of signals from shorts and t-shirt wearing neighbours I wasn’t going to risk it and took my scarf, a good decision in hindsight as it was still mighty chilly. Even so the pseudo-spring has helped lift spirits but I can’t wait now until the real one comes about!
