X-men: Not quite the end

The last X-men film will not be the last X-men film. The storyline has finished though as promised but more films will be made including a Wolverine prequel and a Magneto prequel currently in scripting. Awesome :)

A Magneto movie would be sweet, and should go at least a little way towards washing out the bitter taste left by “X-Men: The Last Stand.” .. what a crapfest

I think it’s another case of the impossiblity to please the existing fans of a franchise when converting it to film. I agree with a lot of the criticism in some aspects such as the lack of development with new characters however this is inevitable with the time constraints they had, unfortunately fitting a story as broad as X-men into film would require 3 hour+ episodes and a much higher budget. What people do tend to agree on is that as a series of blockbuster movies it does work well it’s just doesn’t give the comic fans what they wanted to see which is a shame but not exactly a surprise because when does that ever happen? I think a lot of the progress towards the last stand was following the consistant analogy to a game of chess which is how Magneto compared his struggle, you build your positions and then at end game you obliterate the board which is exactly what happened and it was done well, but this did prevent them from further building the story which was what it needed if they had another $50m in the budget and a 4th film to the series. I’d just be glad they didn’t turn it into another Matrix because that really would have upset people!
